You're not a logical thinker.

Almost every successful person begins with two beliefs:

“The future can be better than the present, and I have the power to make it so.”

David Brooks.

Most people like to believe they’re rational.  That they weigh the evidence, assess the data, and make smart, objective decisions.

But that’s not actually how the mind works.

Neuroscience shows that your brain makes decisions up to 6 seconds before you become consciously aware of them.

Therefore, by the time you “decide,” you’re often just justifying what’s already been "chosen".

I call this, the belief/data fallacy.

We can assume that the data we take in shapes our beliefs, but in reality, our beliefs filter the available data.

For example, two people can look at the same situation and reach completely different conclusions, not because the facts differ, but because their underlying beliefs do.

If you believe you’re 'less than', you’ll find proof.

If you believe you’re capable, you’ll find a path.

Your unconscious belief system is not passive backdrop, it’s the lens shaping what you notice, what you ignore, and what you act on.

So the real question isn’t, “What do I think about this?”

It’s:  “What must I already believe, for this to make sense to me?”

Change the belief, and the “logic” follows.

The truth is, you'll only ever do the hard repetitive work necessary to change your beliefs  when you have a reason or a relationship, so emotionally compelling that you no longer want to be the person who believes the things that put that reason or relationship at risk.
