I get journaling is a thing in the bits of the internet you flirt with but how does it actually work?

THE PROBLEM

  • You think that your thoughts are ‘true’, and that you’re consciously choosing your emotions and making your decisions.  You're not.

  • Your belief systems (how you see yourself) operate at a level that is rarely conscious, and actually decides all of that shit for you.

  • Think of your beliefs like code.  Think of your unconscious mind like a prediction machine.  Predictions based on past experience will run the same code to the same result.

If all your past results felt like you wanted them to, stop reading now.  If you want your future results to feel differently, carry on.


THE SOLUTION

  • Remember that how you see yourself at the level of your unconscious actually decides your future results?

  • Well, journaling (if done effectively) is a portal to that world, it peels back the curtain to reveal what code you’re running today and to offer you the chance to change it.

  • All your code is, is just stories.  Stories that feel like they're true.  But your truth is chosen. 

Ask yourself:

  1. What am I telling myself right now to feel this way?  

  2. What do I tell myself at other times when I don't feel like this?  

  3. Which do I want to choose now to give myself the best possible chance of the result I desire?
